Moral Focus Spotlight

The Moral Focus virtue for the month of May is Integrity. The 3-5 wing focuses on responsibility which NHA defines as, taking ownership for things that need to be done and be someone others can depend on. Often times we associate responsibility with actions and/or behaviors, but I took the approach of students being responsible for their learning and ways that you as teachers can model and set this up for them. I found a blog article titled, 10 Ways to Encourage Students to Take Responsibility for their Learning and below are the different ways that the author discusses this topic in further details. Please click on the link if you are interested. https://whatedsaid.wordpress.com/2010/06/29/10-ways-to-encourage-students-to-take-responsibility-for-their-own-learning/

3. Talk less
4. Model behaviors and attitudes that promote learning.
5. Ask for feedback
6. Test less
7.  Encourage goal setting and reflection.
8. Don’t over plan.
9.  Focus on learning, not work.
