Drill Procedures

Don’t forget to review the procedures for fire drills, room clear, and lock down drills with your students within the first few days of school. We can no longer provide staff members with dates and times prior to the drills, so please take the time to explain the different procedures to students in advance so that they know what to do and what is expected of them.

Lock Down Drill
The procedure for a lockdown drill is to lock the door and cover all windows.

Room Clear Drill
I will come into a classroom and announce "room clear" and then tell the students which classroom to go to. The classroom teacher will remain in the room (just like in a real emergency, the teacher would remain with the injured student) while the students line up quickly and quietly and file into the other classroom. The students should remain standing along the cubbies of the classroom until I tell them to return to their original classroom. Once everyone is back in class, I will go to the next classroom and repeat the process.. Here is the list of "buddy" rooms:
  • Groover-Moody
  • Moody-Marks
  • Marks-Groover
  • Wagner-Davis
  • Davis-McGinn
  • McGinn-Wagner
  • Ryan-Gyulveszi
  • Gyulveszi-Brown
  • Brown-Ryan
  • Heires-Conti
  • Conti-Heires
