Hall Meeting
We
have a hall meeting this Tuesday, October 14th in Dena's room.
During the meeting, one of the items on the agenda is Reading Street.
Please bring any lingering questions or great ideas for whole group, small group, and language arts (spelling, conventions, and writing). I look forward to you sharing some of the great things I've seen in your classrooms. I know your colleagues will appreciate it!
Don't forget to pick up a snack from the staff lounge before coming.

Writing:
o Prove-It (Performance Task)
writing starts this week. This will be modeled as a whole group and NOT entered
into grade book.

During that discussion, we will determine the amount of time needed to complete
each writing piece and what should be added into gradebook.
Common
Core Standards and Unit Writing:
o As
discussed during your grade-level meeting, there are certain standards that the

Achievement Boards
The
first achievement board is due November 14th! As you begin to plan
what you will put on your board, please read the FERPA guidelines below:
What Teachers CAN DO:
• Display work with a student’s name and grades before grades have been entered into a grade book.
• Display anonymous student work showing a grade, corrections, or other markings. You may use student identification numbers so long as you make reasonable efforts to maintain anonymity.
• Display work with a student’s name and grades before grades have been entered into a grade book.
• Display anonymous student work showing a grade, corrections, or other markings. You may use student identification numbers so long as you make reasonable efforts to maintain anonymity.
What Teachers CANNOT DO:
• CANNOT disclose education records (including student addresses and/or telephone numbers) to other students.
• CANNOT post students’ final grades or grade point averages, including giving access to the teacher’s grade book.
Basically, if the student work has a score on it, take off the student's name before displaying it. If the student work does not have a score on it, it is acceptable to post the student's name.
Don’t forget that there
are examples of achievement boards on the U-drive. Let me know if you have any
questions.
