Writing:
o   Prove-It (Performance Task) writing starts this week. This will be modeled as a whole group and NOT entered into grade book.

o   During grade-level meetings this week, we will discuss Unit 2’s writing schedule. During that discussion, we will determine the amount of time needed to complete each writing piece and what should be added into gradebook.

Common Core Standards and Unit Writing:
o   As discussed during your grade-level meeting, there are certain standards that the unit writing rubrics don’t address and you will be responsible for making sure you enter a score for those standards. I’ve listed those standards below as a reminder.

·       3rd grade:
§  CCSS.ELA-Literacy.W.3.5
With guidance and support from peers and adults, develop and strengthen writing as needed by planning, revising, and editing. (Editing for conventions should demonstrate command of Language standards 1-3 up to and including grade 3)

§  CCSS.ELA-Literacy.W.3.6
With guidance and support from adults, use technology to produce and publish writing (using keyboarding skills) as well as to interact and collaborate with others.

·       4th grade:
§  CCSS.ELA-Literacy.W.4.5
With guidance and support from peers and adults, develop and strengthen writing as needed by planning, revising, and editing. (Editing for conventions should demonstrate command of Language standards 1-3 up to and including grade 4)
§  CCSS.ELA-Literacy.W.4.6
With some guidance and support from adults, use technology, including the Internet, to produce and publish writing as well as to interact and collaborate with others; demonstrate sufficient command of keyboarding skills to type a minimum of one page in a single sitting.

§  CCSS.ELA-Literacy.W.4.9
Draw evidence from literary or informational texts to support analysis, reflection, and research.
·       5th grade:

§  CCSS.ELA-Literacy.W.5.5
With guidance and support from peers and adults, develop and strengthen writing as needed by planning, revising, editing, rewriting, or trying a new approach. (Editing for conventions should demonstrate command of Language standards 1-3 up to and including grade 5)
§  CCSS.ELA-Literacy.W.5.6
With some guidance and support from adults, use technology, including the Internet, to produce and publish writing as well as to interact and collaborate with others; demonstrate sufficient command of keyboarding skills to type a minimum of two pages in a single sitting.
