Workshop

I absolutely loved observing all of your workshops these past two weeks. Every workshop was set up differently, but one thing that was the same in each of the classrooms was the differentiation provided to students. Each of you were intentional with meeting your students at their current learning level to guide them to the achievement of their own individual academic success. I can’t express how great it was to observe this! Keep up the great work!

Observations

All of you received your personal goals sheet last week. I’m excited to see your goals in action, so please schedule your observation for this week.

Important Dates

Please view the right side of the blog for important dates in

Missing Attendance-Teacher Policy

Taking timely and accurate attendance is very important both for student safety and for state auditing purposes. When student attendance is not entered correctly it can impact our state funding as well.  As discussed during your grade level meetings, any teacher who has incomplete weekly attendance three times within a trimester will be required to submit a Weekly Attendance Grid to their dean for the remainder of that trimester. The printing of the weekly grid will help the teacher and dean to more closely monitor attendance taking with the goal of 100% accurate attendance from all teachers.

Planning and Assessing

Don’t forget that this week, November 2-6, I will be focusing on the competency of Planning. If you have any evidence to support any of the four indicators, please bring it to your O3. We will discuss and rate all four indicators at that time.

In addition, please make sure that you have all Reading Street weekly assessments integrated into the gradebook. The week of November 9-13, we will begin to analyze various Common Assessments reports during grade level meetings, which address the competency of Assessing focusing on the indicators of Implementing Assessment Strategy and Analyze Data.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Curriculum and Instruction Observation

As we discussed previously in each of your grade level meetings, Heather from Curriculum and Instruction, will be visiting to observe math instruction. Achievement Boards

The first achievement board is due November 13! As you begin to plan what you will put on your board, please read the FERPA guidelines below:

What Teachers CAN DO:
• Display work with a student’s name and grades before grades have been entered into a grade book.
• Display anonymous student work showing a grade, corrections, or other markings. You may use student identification numbers so long as you make reasonable efforts to maintain anonymity.

What Teachers CANNOT DO:
• CANNOT disclose education records (including student addresses and/or telephone numbers) to other students.
• CANNOT post students’ final grades or grade point averages, including giving access to the teacher’s grade book.

Basically, if the student work has a score on it, take off the student's name before displaying it. If the student work does not have a score on it, it is acceptable to post the student's name.
Don’t forget that there are examples of achievement boards on the U-drive. Let me know if you have any questions.
