Moral Focus Spotlight

The Moral Focus virtue for the month of September is Wisdom, with 2nd grade focusing on Conscience and 3-5 students on Good Judgment. I came across an article titled, Good Judgment is Learned. This article supports the concept that teachers are models for their students, which is also stated on the Classroom Framework (Classroom CultureàStudent Behavior). Below is a quote from the author that summarizes the article. If interested, click here to learn more.
Don’t forget that NHA provides lessons for each of the virtues on the curriculum page as a great resource for those who are “intentionally and effectively infuses Moral Focus virtues into content lessons.” (Classroom CultureàStudent Behavior). Happy reading!

“As the leader of a school, I ponder how we foster the kind of decision making in children that comes with asking the right questions? How do we support the right balance of self-confidence and self-awareness to make informed judgments? How do we ensure young people experience the consequences of their own decisions and actions in a way that allows them to grow from those experiences? Every day, I get to be part of the formation of judgment in young people. It is arguably, one of the most important things that we as teachers and parents do.”
